Welcome to VANSPEC! Vancouver Archdiocese Special Education Catechesis

The word ‘catechesis” comes from a Greek word meaning “to resound”. A VANSPEC catechist knows that the heart of each individual will resound with the love of Jesus not only through carefully planned lessons that incorporate stories, signs, crafts, music videos and many other techniques, but also a love that builds a relationship of trust.

Each person is formed in faith in a loving setting that is individual, relational and communal. The motto of VANSPEC, “That They Too May Know” is really a paraphrase of Jesus’ words: Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. (Mt. 28:19-20). This is the goal of VANSPEC. The enthusiasm of our students confirms that Jesus is “resounding” in them. This is VANSPEC.
